The Bannisters experience, born in Mollymook, and now in vibrant Port Stephens is deeply connected to Rick and Sarah Stein’s natural affinity with our unique Australian coastline. We focus on putting the produce at the forefront to create simple dishes, cooked to perfection and bursting with flavour.

“Since opening Rick Stein at Bannisters in Mollymook nearly ten years ago, Rick and I have loved having a seafood restaurant overlooking the beautiful coast of Mollymook. We’ve long thought it would be exciting to open another location, and then we found Port Stephens, right on the doorstep of some of Australia’s best seafood. Our new restaurant features vaulted ceilings and spectacular bar, complete with panoramic views of Port Stephens Bay. Rick and Mitchell Turner, our Head Chef, have created a menu to celebrate the region. We can’t wait to see you enjoying platters of Local Oysters and Prawns on the deck.

Whether you are heading North or South, you’ll be sure to find Rick’s signature dishes, influenced with my love of Australian Seafood. We hope to see you there.

Ryan began his varied career working for several illustrious hatted restaurants in Sydney including Banc before making the move across the pond to London where he worked at two Michelin star restaurant, The Square. After a year gaining valuable experience, he began working in high-end catering for films.

Ryan made the move back to restaurant dining and was part of the opening team of Bill Granger and Co in Notting Hill before being whisked back to Australia to work in Bill’s restaurant in Woollahra. While in Sydney Ryan again put his catering skills to use, working for stylish companies such as Louis Vuitton, Tiffany and Co and Michael Kors.  

Ryan made another move, this time up to the Central Coast to take over Becker & Co. But Rick Stein restaurant had other plans for Ryan…and enticed him to make the move to Mollymook! We’re so excited to have Ryan on board and look forward to sharing in his wealth of knowledge and experience.

MITCHELL TURNER HEAD CHEF PORT STEPHENS

Head Chef of Bannisters Port Stephens, Mitchell Turner’s passion for cooking began from a young age. Starting out practising dicing and cutting in his family kitchen to achieving his first Head Chef position at just 21-years-old and working as Sous Chef at the Michelin Starred, Castle Terrace in Edinburgh.

After returning to Australia, Mitchell joined Rick Stein at Bannisters before becoming Head Chef of The Rooftop at Bannisters Pavilion. A lifelong enthusiast of Rick Stein’s seafood, he is thrilled to be opening Bannisters Port Stephens and creating an exciting new dining destination on the north coast.

Opening Hours AT Rick Stein Bannisters

MOLLYMOOK

Rick Stein at Bannisters Mollymook is open for dinner 7 nights a week and lunch on Saturday and Sunday. 

Over summer, we will be open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner from Saturday 21st December to January 25th 2020.

Please note: As of 26th January 2020 Rick Stein at Bannisters Mollymook will be open for dinner Monday - Saturday and open for lunch on Saturday and Sunday.

Rick Stein at Bannisters Port Stephens is open for dinner Monday - Saturday nights and  lunch on Saturday and Sunday. 

Proudly supported by the NSW Governtment's tourism and major events agency Destination NSW, through the 2018-2019 Regional Tourism Fund. 

Booking Info

Book online for groups of up to ten. For bookings of eleven or more people please enquire directly on (02) 4454 7400.

Group bookings are a maximum of 20 people, if you require a booking of 20+ you will need to speak to our functions team.

We'd love to help you celebrate your special occasions. Personalised dessert messages can be arranged and gift vouchers are available for purchase.

We have a fully licensed bar with an extensive wine and cocktail list. Please note we do not accept BYO.

There is a 10% surcharge on Sundays and public holidays.
