Escape ARTfest is fast approaching. Find out what you can expect from this year’s event and how to make the most of your visit.
Escape ARTfest returns to the Milton Ulladulla District this September, so get ready for a fantastic two weeks to revel in all things creative! Running from September 23rd to October 7th, this year’s festival offers an abundance of diverse artistic talent for you to enjoy and we’re here to help you make the most of your visit.
If high energy is your thing, be sure to check out The Big Ullabaloo. Escape ARTfest kicks off on the 23rd of September with an unmissable night that’s set to light up Ulladulla Harbour, literally! Taking inspiration from this year’s festival theme – SPARK – The Big Ullabaloo will include music, dance and circus performers, and an illuminating floating lantern parade. As the sun goes down, the lanterns will be lit and local drumming groups will lead a ceremonial welcoming of Escape ARTfest ’17. For a fun, hands on experience, bring along something to drum on and get into the rhythm of the mass drum jam.
Following The Big Ullabaloo, the next fortnight will be packed full of events to excite, inspire and entertain. Take your pick of art exhibitions, musical performances, book launches and readings, digital installations, workshops and demos and much more.
If you’re short on time and looking for the quintessential ARTfest experience, the Milton Gallery Walk is the perfect opportunity to take in a night of art, music and delicious food. On Thursday the 28th of September, a host of venues along Milton’s main street are opening their doors to festival-goers. Stroll the street, take in the art, the local musicians busking on the sidewalk and order a special ARTfest inspired dish from the menu. Indulge your senses!
